3MW (Happy 2024 🥳)

Guten Tag!

Many greetings from Munich, Germany. I hope you've had a great start to 2024!

3MW is still on a break but I wanted to drop in to gather your thoughts on the content you'd like to see in the upcoming year. However, before I do that, let me say thank you.

Thank you

I’ve written a LinkedIn post reflecting on my achievements of 2023. And among those achievements there are some things I have to thank you for:

  • Thank you for being here. This newsletter went from 618 subscribers to 2706 subs. That's ~338% growth 🥳

  • Thank you for enjoying my content. This newsletter has an average open rate of 51.7%. That’s a pretty sweet stat for an email newsletter.

  • Thank you for buying my data visualization course. I am thrilled about the sales as well as the stellar reviews. I am particularly proud that this course is enjoyable for beginners and experienced R users alike. If you’re curious, you can check out the reviews either on the wall of love directly or via this little widget (if it works in the email):

Where to head next

Now, I'm curious to know about your wishes and the challenges you're tackling. Specifically, I want to tailor this newsletter’s content to your needs. And I can’t find that out without you. Your input gives me insights into how I can help you next.

Let me give you a couple of the topics I’m thinking about and then you can vote on whether you’re particularly interested in one of these topics via the poll below. Or you can just reply to this email with your own topic.

  • Data wrangling/cleaning: As you might have seen in my dataviz course, I found myself navigating through data cleaning tasks quite a bit and couldn’t go into to many details (since this wasn’t the focus of the course). This made me ponder if a more comprehensive data wrangling guide would be beneficial for you.

  • Dashboards and Shiny: I'm interested in exploring the realm of Shiny dashboards and web development. Crafting aesthetically pleasing and functional dashboards using the new Quarto dashboards is also on my radar.

  • Web scraping: This is another exciting area I'm considering delving into. Connecting the dots between learning about the web with HTML and CSS and extracting desired data from the internet could be an engaging journey.

  • Bridging R and Python: I've been exploring Python more and I am contemplating to transate typical data cleaning or wrangling tasks between both languages. I’m still more of an R-fanboy for all tabular data related tasks but still a bit of Python could be a fascinating addition.

Does any of this align with your interests? Let me know if this resonates with you via mail or this poll:
