Many greetings from Munich, Germany. A few of you asked how my upcoming workshop differs from my Typst course. Great question, and clearly I haven't explained it well enough. Here's the short version:

• The Typst course teaches Typst itself, plus how to automate reports with R or Python. No Quarto involved.

• The workshop shows you how to build one Quarto template that produces a polished Typst PDF and a matching HTML page from the same source file. You'll learn to build the "translation layer" between Quarto and each output format, packaged as a reusable Quarto extension. It's for you if you already use Quarto and want branded PDF and HTML output from one file.

Does this mean that you need to be intricately familiar with Typst code? Well, it sure helps, but it’s not necessary.

In a three-hour workshop, I’m not going to spend our collective time typing out all the code character by character. Instead, we’ll learn the concepts that govern how Quarto, Typst and HTML play together. And we’re going to assemble prepared code chunks into a meaningful Quarto extension.

That way, you get to

• learn the fundamental building blocks live,

• see those in action with ready-made code, and

• explore the details at your own pace with the recording.

You'll leave understanding how the pieces connect, which is exactly what you need to adapt the template (or guide an AI to do it) for your own projects.
